The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 31, 2011

For Today March 31, 2011

Outside my window... It's a chilly, cloudy day.

I am thinking... I am not doing very good with getting much done in a day.

I am thankful for... A healthy pregnancy so far.

I am wearing... Jeans and a pink shirt.

In the learning rooms... We are continuing to try and stay focused and move forward toward the finish line of the school year.

I am going... To run a few short errands.

I am reading... Praise & Paraphrase by Pamela Sonnenmoser.  I actually finished it today, so now I will have to find something else to read.

I am hoping... To clean out our apartment of things we don't use, want or need by the end of the month.  Today is the last day of the month, so I better get on finishing it up.

On my mind... I need to get our application turned in for our new apartment very soon. I don't know what I'll do if we don't get approved for it.

Noticing that... Another night without sleep is making me drag today.

From the kitchen... I have no idea what to make for dinner.

Around the house... I HAVE to do some cleaning!

One of my favorite things... An afternoon nap.  I have never been a nap sort of person, but they are a life saver while I am pregnant.

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 30, 2011

For Today March 30, 2011

Outside my window... It's a chilly, cloudy day.

I am thinking... I am not going back to Labor & Delivery until I think I am in labor.  I spent 2 hours last night hooked up to monitors because of Braxton Hicks contractions.  I was told to call if I had 6 or more contractions of any sort within a hour. I did and they told me to come in and have it checked out.  The looks on the nurse's faces was priceless when I told them, "no," when they asked if I thought I was in labor.  The sad thing was I left the hospital in more pain then when I arrived.  The blood pressure cuff was too big and bruised my arm and the bed made my hips hurt so bad.

I am thankful for... A healthy pregnancy so far.

I am wearing... Sweat pants and a t-shirt.  It's laundry day.

In the learning rooms... We are continuing to try and stay focused and move forward toward the finish line of the school year.

I am going... To stay home and work on laundry and cleaning.

I am reading... Praise &Paraphrase by Pamela Sonnenmoser

I am hoping... To clean out our apartment of things we don't use, want or need by the end of the month.

On my mind... We found an apartment yesterday and I'm so excited to be moving into it in June!!!

Noticing that... I am feeling very clam today, even though I didn't get very much sleep last night.

From the kitchen... I have no idea what to make for dinner.

Around the house... Today is the day of cleaning.

One of my favorite things... A clean tidy home!

From my camera...

Bee's made over jeans.  She had a hole in the knee so since they were too short we made cute capri for summer.

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 29, 2011

For Today March 29, 2011

Outside my window... It's a chilly day.

I am thinking... I hope Bug shows up before her due date.  I had to schedule a C-section for her due date because my perinatologist won't let me go past my due date.

I am thankful for... A healthy pregnancy so far.

I am wearing... Jeans and a black shirt.

In the learning rooms... We are continuing to try and stay focused and move forward toward the finish line of the school year.

I am going... To take Daddy to the doctor's office.  I think he got Bee's sinus infection.

I am reading... Praise & Paraphrase by Pamela Sonnenmoser

I am hoping... To clean out our apartment of things we don't use, want or need by the end of the month.

On my mind... Why doesn't the laundry do itself?

Noticing that... I am feeling yucky because the weather keeps going from hot to cold. I wish it would just make up it's mind.  Daddy and Bee both have sinus infections and I don't want one too.

From the kitchen... I have no idea what to make for dinner.

Around the house... I have sewing projects I have been putting off that I NEED to get done and for some reason the house will not dust and vacuum it's self.

One of my favorite things... is Spring is on it's way!

From my camera...

My plant on the patio. Yes, it is snowing. lol.

Kindergarten Week 29

Welcome to the week of the Flowers.  This week we read a beautiful and wonderful book.  We read Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney.

Miss Rumphius dreams of seeing wonderful far away places since she was a small girl.

Her Grandfather, who encourages her to follow her dreams, advises her to try and make the world a better place.  Read the book to find out what Miss Rumphius does to make the world around her a better place.

This week for we study the top ten most popular flowers and made a book.  Bee had a fun trying to figure out what color the flowers were suppose to be.

For Science we studied the life cycle of butterflies.  We looked for catterpillars outside, but with the unpredictable weather we have been having there were none to be found.

This week for craft Bee painted beautiful spring time flowers.

Join us next time for the week of the Train.

The Homeschool Mother's Journal - March 21st - 25th

The Homeschool Chick

In my life this week... I am tired, frustrated, and very hormonal.

In our homeschool this week... Bee is working really hard on her studies.  She added consonent blends and long vowel sounds to her phonics knowledge.

Places we're going and people we're seeing... We went to the doctor's office this week and the mechanic as well.

My favorite thing this week was... Watching Bee paint her spring flowers.

What's working/not working for us... We are moving smoothly through our lesson plans and Bee really seems to enjoy being able to check off assignments as she finishes them.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have... I'm wondering what sort of challenges the next school year will bring.  A First Grader and a brand new baby......   hmmm.

I am thankful for... A comfortable bed to sleep in.

I am wearing... Black pants and a blue striped shirt.

In the learning rooms... We are continuing to try and stay focused and move forward toward the finish line of the school year. Yesterday went much better then the previous days.  I am hoping today will be just a good.

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 24, 2011

For Today March 24 2011

Outside my window... There is a robin building a nest in a tree that is budding, despite the fact that it's cloudy and only in the 40's.

I am thinking... I only have 50 days until my due date!

I am thankful for... A warm place to live.

I am wearing... Black pants and a t-shirt.

In the learning rooms... We are continuing to try and stay focused and move forward toward the finish line of the school year.  I am trying to maintain my sanity while dealing with the new rude attitute that Bee is giving me.

I am going... To take the van back to the mechanics and hope they can fix it without too much cost.

I am reading... Praise & Paraphrase by Pamela Sonnenmoser

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 23, 2011

For Today March 23, 2011

Outside my window... It's sunny and beautiful!

I am thinking... The sudden crazy change of weather is giving me a terrible sinus headache.

I am thankful for... Medicine for when we don't feel good.

I am wearing... Jeans and a black and white striped shirt.

In the learning rooms... We are continuing to try and stay focused and move forward toward the finish line of the school year.

I am going... To call the mechanic again and make a new appointment to have the van looked at again.  Hopefully look at 3 new possible places to live.

I am reading... Praise & Paraphrase by Pamela Sonnenmoser

I am hoping... To clean out our apartment of things we don't use, want or need by the end of the month.

On my mind... It's laundry time again.  I know that I have two loads of just the brand new cloth diapers in addition to the regular stuff.

Noticing that... I am getting very clumsy lately.  I tripped on the stairs the other night.  I have spilled both fried rice and peanuts of the sofa too.

From the kitchen... I have no idea what to make for dinner.

Around the house... I need to do  some cleaning.  I can see the dust on the TV.

One of my favorite things... Is getting packages.  I finally got the cloth diapers I ordered for Bug in the mail yesterday! They are sooo cute!

From my camera...

Mr. Daddy!  It's so hard to get pictures of him.

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 22, 2011

For Today March 22, 2011

Outside my window... It's cloudy, but warm and windy.

I am thinking... I wonder if my fast blood sugars numbers are going up because I am waking up for a hour in the middle of the night?

I am thankful for... Great check ups with all my doctors yesterday! Blood sugar and blood pressure were great and Bug went from 16% growth to 20% growth.

I am wearing... Jeans and a blue and brown top I made myself.

In the learning rooms... I am trying to keep Bee focused so we can get through plenty of school work today.
I am going... To take the van to the mechanic to see why the check engine light came on.

I am reading... Praise & Paraphrase by Pamela Sonnenmoser

I am hoping... To clean out our apartment of things we don't use, want or need by the end of the month.

On my mind... Only 52 days until Bug's due date and only 100 days until we have to be moved.

Noticing that... I am tired of having to move every year.  I want to find a place that we will be happy living at for several years.

From the kitchen... I am thinking chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, white gravy, and buttermilk biscuits.

Around the house... I am happy with how clean it is, but I am beginning to feel some nesting instincts.

One of my favorite things... Is warm weather.

From my camera...

Bee on the carousel at the mall.

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 21, 2011

For Today March 21, 2011

Outside my window... It is a beautiful sunny day.

I am thinking... I can't believe that I need to take the van in to be checked out.

I am thankful for... The small things.  I tripped on the stairs last night and twisted my back, but I didn't fall or really hurt myself.

I am wearing... Jean Capri pants and my red tank top.  I feel cute in this outfit.

In the learning rooms... I am so proud of myself.  I went through the remaining weeks of lessons we have left and printed out all the worksheets we will need and made checklists.  Bee has decided she likes being able to cross assignments off as she gets them done.

I am going... To WIC, the perinatologist, my OB and I need to get the van looked at today.

I am reading... Praise & Paraphrase by Pamela Sonnenmoser

I am hoping... To clean out our apartment of things we don't use, want or need by the end of the month.

On my mind... I now have to go every week to see my OB and I'm praying that I will get my VBAC.

Noticing that... I'm struggling with being patient with everyone, but mostly with Bee.  That makes me feel like a bad mom.

From the kitchen... I'm thinking we may grill for dinner today. It's just to nice outside to cook inside.

Around the house... I need to get out the sewing machine and work on the growing pile of sewing projects.

One of my favorite things... A pedicure.  For my sister's birthday I took her to get her nails done and I got a pedicure. I love pedicures.

From my camera...

Bee's Blue Boat picture she did for craft last week.

Kindergarten Week 27 & 28

This is a very unusual week we completed TWO weeks worth of school work in only one week.  I am very proud of all the hard work Bee put into getting this done.  We did this in hope of  completing our school year early.  So lets get on with our weeks of work.

Week 27
Welcome to the Week of the Ocean.  What happens when hermit crab out grows his shell?  He finds a new one of course.  A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle is a cute story about how a hermit crab wants to make his home a better place to be.

Bee loved the pictures and loved how the different types of animals all helped each other to make their lives better.  Read the book and find out what happens to his friends when hermit crab out grows his shell again.

This week for craft we painted a blue boat, like the one we saw in our piece of art this week.

The Blue Boat by Winslow Homer
Bee's Blue Boat

 Week 28

Welcome to the Week of Islands. This week we read The Little Island by Margaret Wise Brown.  Find out how the little island proves to a small kitten that it isn't small and unimportant.

The pictures are beautiful and Bee thought the kitten was silly.

This week for craft we planted grass.  We had bought Bee a cute bumble bee container that you grow grass in.  It comes with a dirt pellet that you add water to and it expands.

You put 3/4 of the dirt in the container.  Then you put in the seeds and the rest of the dirt.

Next you place the container some place where it can get plenty of sun and make sure it gets water every day.

Bee can't wait until the grass grows so her bee will have crazy hair.  I must say this craft was easy and fun for us.

Come visit next week and see what we have been up to!

The Homeschool Mother's Journal - March 14th - 18th

In my life this week... I had to go into the doctor's office this week to be checked for preterm labor.  Everything came out fine in the end.

In our homeschool this week... Bee did her first set of Swim Lessons and passed.  She loves the water and I am so proud that she passed her level the first time.

Places we're going and people we're seeing... We are going to St. Joseph this weekend to celebrate my sister Cathie's Birthday. We will be see my Mom, Daddy's Mom and his Grandma too while we are there.

My favorite thing this week was... Watching Bee plant her grass. She loved getting in the dirt and can't wait to water it every day.  I just hope the grass grows.

What's working/not working for us... We completed two weeks worth of lessons this week with no great amount of extra effort.  We have 5 weeks worth of lessons left, but I am considering doing 2 weeks of lessons per week so that we can finish Kindergarten earlier.  I am due May 13th but since Bee came 6 weeks early I am so nervous that Bug will come early, before we are done with Kindergarten, and I won't have the energy to finish.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have... I am so looking forward to all the fun extra activities we will be doing this summer.
